Why
- কোন ঘটনা সংঘটিত হওয়ার কারণ, উদ্দেশ্য ইত্যাদি জানার জন্য why দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করা হয়।
- Sentence-a infinitive (to + base form of verb), for, since, because, because of, due to, owing to, on accour so that, as ইত্যাদি থাকলে why দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করা যায়।
- because, since, as দ্বারা কারণ নির্দেশকটি একটি clause হবে। why দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করার সময় because, since, as যুক্ত clause টি সম্পূর্ণ বাদ যাবে।
Rule-1: Sentence-a to be verb/to have verb/modal auxiliary থাকলে-
i. প্রথমে Why বসে।
ii. প্রদত্ত বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত to be verb/to have verb/modal auxiliary বসে।
iii. প্রদত্ত বাক্যের subject নিয়মানুযায়ী বসবে।
iv. বাকি অংশ বসবে এবং কারণ নির্দেশক word/phrase/clause বাদ যাবে।
v. Note of Interrogation বসবে।
Example:
1. We could not go because of rain.
WH-question: Why could you not go?
2. They have succeeded because of hard work.
WH-question: Why have they succeeded?
3. I am reading to pass.
WH-question: Why are you reading?
Exercise:
1. Sumon has failed for his carelessness.
2. Anamika will marry Bidhan because he is handsome.
3. The authoress could not drive at night due to fog.
4. They must stay at home because of their illness,
5. Since her mother is ill, she cannot go to college.
Rule-2: Sentence- এ to be verb/to have verb/modal auxiliary না থাকলে-
a. প্রথমে Why বসে।
b. Tense, person, এবং number অনুযায়ী do/does/did বসে।
c. নিয়মানুযায়ী subject বসে।
d. বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত verb টির present form বসে।
e. বাকি অংশ বসবে এবং কারণ নির্দেশক word/phrase/clause বাদ যাবে।
f. Note of Interrogation (?) বসবে।
Structure: Why + do/does/did + subject + verb (present form) + বাকি অংশ ( কারণ নির্দেশক word/phrase/clause বাদ)+?
Example:
1. He failed for his own carelessness.
WH-question: Why did he fail?
2. She learns computer to get a job.
WH-question: Why does she learn computer?
3. The child cried to get its mother.
WH-question: Why did the child cry?
1. Rani goes to Dhaka to study.
2. She runs to get a prize.
3. She missed the bus for coming late.
4. Treturned the watch as it was not working well.
5. The students go to picnic to enhance their knowledge.
6. She wakes up early so that she can take exercise.
