What

-What দ্বারা কি বুঝানো হয়। 
-নিম্নলিখিত তথ্য জানার জন্য What দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করা হয়ঃ 
- কি, কেন, কোনটি, কয়টি (বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে)। 
- কোন ব্যক্তির পেশা, চরিত্র, চেহারা, বয়স, পছন্দ, অপছন্দ ইত্যাদি। 
- সময় জানার জন্য। 
- বস্তুর দৈর্ঘ্য, প্রস্থ, দূরত্ব, অবস্থা ইত্যাদি। 
- What মূলত ২ ভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়: 
    ১। Subject হিসাবে 
    ২। Object হিসাবে। 
- What সাধারণত singular এবং plural উভয় ক্ষেত্রে বসে। 

Rule-1: কোন বাক্যের agent বা subject বস্তু হলে তার সম্পর্কে what দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করার সময়-
    i. প্রথমে what বসে।
    ii. প্রদত্ত বাক্যের subject টি বাদ যায়।
    iii. বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত to be verb/to have verb/modal auxiliary/to do verb বসে (প্রযোজ্য ক্ষেত্রে)।
    iv. বাকি অংশ বসে। 
    v. Note of Interrogation (?) বসে। 

Structure: What + (প্রদত্ত বাক্যের subject বাদ) + প্রদত্ত বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত verb + বাকি অংশ + ? 

Example: 
1. Football is my favourite game.
    WH-question: What is your favourite game?
2. A train runs faster than a bus.
    WH-question: What runs faster than a bus?
3. This shirt will suit here. 
    WH-question: What will suit here? 
4. His father's illness made him sad. 
    WH-question: What made him sad?

Rule-2: sentence এর predicate অংশে ব্যবহৃত object সম্পর্কে what দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করার সময়-

• প্রথমে what বসে। 
• নিয়মানুযায়ী to be verb/to have verb/modal auxiliary/to do verb বসে। 
• Subject বসে। 
• প্রদত্ত বাক্যের verb অপরিবর্তিত অবস্থায় বসে। 
• বাকি অংশ বসে।
• Note of Interrogation (?) বসে। 

Example: 
1. I want a pen.
    WH-question: What do you want?
2. They saw a tiger.
    WH-question: What did they see?
3. You must handle everything. 
    WH-question: What must you handle? 
4. Bangladesh wins the match. 
    WH-question: What does Bangladesh win? 

Rule-3: what দ্বারা কোন ব্যক্তির চরিত্র বা চেহারা জানতে চাওয়ার সময় শেষে like বসাতে হয়।

Example: 
1. Antara is very amiable.
    WH-question: What is Antara like? 
2. Rubel is very brilliant. 
    WH-question: What is Rubel like?

Example: 
1. The day is very cold.
    WH-question: What is the day like?
2. The mobile set is highly expensive. 
    WH-question: What is the mobile set like?

What দ্বারা কোন সময়, দৈর্ঘ্য ইত্যাদি জানার ক্ষেত্রে what+ time/date/age/length+ auxiliary verb+ subject + বাকি অংশ বসে। 

Example: 
1. It is 7 o'clock now.
    WH-question: What time is it now?
2. The woman is 70 years old. 
    WH-question: What age is the woman? 
        Or. What is the age of the woman?
3. The wall is ten feet long. 
    WH-question: What length is the wall? 

কোন Adjective দ্বারা noun বিশেষিত হলে What kind of + সেই noun টি + auxiliary verb + subject + verb এর past participle form + বাকি অংশ বসে + ? 

Example: 
1. He likes green colour.
    WH-question: What kind of colour does he like? 
2. My father hated dishonest people. 
    WH-question: What kind of people did your father hate? 

Example: 
1. He went to read.
    WH-question: What did he go for?
2. The shopkeepers open their shops to sell goods. 
    WH-question: What do the shopkeepers open their shops for?
