Tolerance is most needed there where opinions are divided, beliefs are different, creeds and ideologies are opposed to each other. It teaches one to tolerate others opinions, beliefs, creeds, policies and politics. Political leaders of different isms and ideologies should cultivate it most, but unfortunately it is most wanting in them. They shout their voices hoarse for the institutionalization of democracy, but in the parliament and outside they hardly exercise tolerance, which is essential for democracy. Those who listen to opposite opinions with patience, tolerate them and try to establish their opinions through arguments are really great . Where there is no cultivation or exercise of tolerance there prevail chaos and disruption , disorder and lawlessness. The political parties that do not show and exercise tolerance get involved in destructive activities and create unrest and chaos. Because of the lack of tolerance. Intolerance breeds distrust and hatred, malice and jealousy, antagonism and hostility and leads people to stand against one another and ultimately, in most cases, causes bloodshed and death to many. In fact, for a peaceful coexistence among people of all classes, castes and creeds tolerance has no alternative. It must be cultivated for the sake of humanity and true development.
বঙ্গানুবাদ : সহনশীলতা সেখানেই সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রয়োজন যেখানে মতামতের ক্ষেত্রে বিভক্তি আছে, বিশ্বাসে ভিন্নতা আছে, এবং যেখানে আকীদা ও ভাবাদর্শ একে অপরের বিরুধে অবাস্থান করে । এটা অন্যদের মতামত, বিশ্বাস, আকীদা, নীতি ও রাজনীতি সহ্য করতে শেখায় । বিভিন্ন ভাবাদর্শ এবং মতাদর্শের রাজনৈতিক নেতাদের বেশি বেশি সহনশীলতার চর্চা করা উচিত । কিন্তু দুর্ভাগ্যবশত এটা তাদের মধ্যেই সবচেয়ে বেশি অনুপস্থিত । তারা গণতন্ত্রের প্রাতিষ্ঠানিকীকরণ জন্য চিৎকার করে করে তাদের কণ্ঠ চিরে ফেলে কিন্তু সংসদে ও সংসদের বাইরে তারা সহনশীলতার চর্চা করে না বললেই চলে, যা গণতন্ত্রের জন্য অপরিহার্য । যারা ধৈর্য ধরে বিরধী দলের মতামত শোনে , সেগুল সহ্য করে, এবং যুক্তি দিয়ে তাদের মতামত প্রতিষ্ঠা করার চেষ্টা করে তারাই প্রকৃত মহৎ । যেখানে সহনশীলতার চর্চা নেই সেখানে বিশৃঙ্খলা, ভাঙ্গন ও অরাজকতা বিরাজ করে । যে রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো সহনশীলতার চর্চা করে না, সহনশীলতার অভাবে তারা ধ্বংসাত্মক কর্মকাণ্ডে জড়িয়ে পড়ে এবং অস্থিতিশীলতা ও অরাজকতা সৃষ্টি করে । অসহিষ্ণুতা অবিশ্বাস ও বিদ্বেষ, হিংসা ও ঈর্ষা, বিরোধ এবং শত্রুতার জন্ম দেয় এবং মানুষকে পরস্পরের মুখমুখি দাড় করায় এবং বেশীরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে অনেকের রক্তপাত এবং মৃত্যু ঘটায় । বস্তুত, সব শ্রেণী, জাতি ও বিশ্বাসের মানুষের মধ্যে একটি শান্তিপূর্ণ সহাবস্থান জন্য সহনশীলতা কোন বিকল্প নেই । মানবতা ও প্রকৃত উন্নয়ন স্বার্থে আমাদের সহনশীলতার চর্চা করা উচিত ।
